Dualspringfield,

If you are talking about the Nikon Monarch 6.5-20X44 UCC here are the specs on this scope.

  •  1/8 minute target style click adjustments
  •  Ultra ClearCoat for up to 95% light transmission
  •  BDC (bullet drop compensating) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers)
  •  Oversized, target style windage and elevation knobs
  •  Adjustable Objective
  •  One piece main body tube construction
  •  Fully multicoated lenses

      Review: Anonymous of Kansas City
This is the best scope I have ever had. The clarity is amazing even at 20x. In my opinion it is as good as a Leupold. Knobs turn easy, well made and a good value. One thing I did notice is that this scope is heavy. I will use it for benchrest but on a hunter you may not want that weight. Good job Nikon!

    Max Internal Adjustment: 38 MOA
Parallax Setting (yds): 50 to infinity

Scopes with 1/8 moa click adjustments are typically for target shooting and scopes with 30mm  tubes usually have more MOA adjustment range than ones with 1 inch tubes. Note  38 MOA translates to 38 inches of adjustment at 100 yds. A .308 shooting 168gr bthp 2680fps zeroed at 200yds will be 50.7 inches low at 500 yds (5 in = 1moa at 500 yds) So to correct you need to adjust up 10 moa at 1/8 minute clicks thats 80 clicks up.

Thats a lot of clicks to dial in on the run , my guess is that you should be ok out to at least  500  yds - after that you will want a plus 20 moa base.    http://www.snipercentral.com/308.htm

Are you sure about the 1/8 moa clicks? Everywhere I have looked including Nikon's site says they are 1/4 clicks is this right? Model 6605 and the 6613

Nikon 2006 paper catelogue shows the mil dot model 6613 has 1/8 moa adjustment and all of the 6.5-20 scopes shown have the same.  The one below has 1/4 moa adjustment and 40 MOA of adjustment

Titanium Scope 5.5-16.5x44 AO Product Number [6680]

Leupold 30mm tube 4.5-14 scopes have 100 moa adjustment range.

From the scope described above. The Nikon Monarch UCC Long Range scope 6.5-20x44 states.

    1/8 moa "adjustment  graduation"

    38  moa "Max internal adjustment"

Unless you are talking about a different scope? From what was posted.

You will probably need a canted P rail to shoot very far out with only 38 MOA of adjustment.

That translates to about 19 MOA of "up".

One of the short comings of a 1" tubed scope is lack of elevation adjustments.

Really just depends on how far you plan on shooting, Sir.

Ok thanks everyone. I was just confussed about the 1/8 clicks. Nikon's site said it had 1/4 clicks. They emailed me and said that they were wrong.

It's a Bell and Carlson Varmint/Tactical Short action Medalist Style. Its a pretty damn good stock and it didnt cost an arm and a leg either. http://www.rifle-accuracy.com/medalst2.htm

The rifle is a Savage 10 fp in .308.
