as the heading says can it be done?
i know it sounds abit daft but my plan is to first buy an air rifle for shooting small vermin and put a good quality centerfire scope on it and then some time in the future i might mount it on a nice .223 or .243 i don't want to buy a rifle at the moment but wouldn't mind getting an air rifle. Can this be done? i was thinking of maybe getting a benjamin maurader topped off with a nightforce nxs. |

I use a Kahles Helia CL on my Benjamin Marauder. No issues. That's the advantage of a PCP air rifle. My 0.02...

The only problem I see in mounting a center fire scope on a air rifle is probably going to be parallax correction. A large portion of the name brand scopes will not focus under 50 yards or so. I am not sure about the night forces though.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I did need high rings to allow for the magazine to fit on the Marauder. The Helia CL 3-9x42 has a parallax knob that goes down to 30 yards so I'm hoping that will be all I need.
Leupold makes an EFR scope that has parallax correction down to 10 yards I believe. |

You can mount just about anything on a PCP air gun. If the scope is a fixed 4x or even 6x, I have not had parallax issues on air guns with centerfire scopes.
This Leupold should be a dandy for vermin. It has a heavier plex than the standard version. http://swfa.com/Leupold-3-9x33-Mark-AR-Rimfire-EFR-Riflescope-P50860.aspx I have a similar scope and it works great. The Weaver also has AO and should be a good one. One of our members here swears by his. http://swfa.com/Weaver-3-9x32-Classic-Rimfire-Rifle-Scope-P3141.aspx
