I already have a nice minox 1.5-8x for hunting. Looking for something with decent mag for range work- trying to make 1/4" holes with my cz 452 or pushing out to 500(steel) with my accurized m14.

Low light performance is not important- this is just a toy, really, and my chance to get a big hubble telescope thing since the other scope covers hunting/lightweight/quality just fine. Adjustable objective would be good cause I push the 22 from 50-150/200.

Looking at the vortex diamondback Adjustable objective 4-12x40.

SS is really the only  option for your price range.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Unless your idea of fun is watching POIs @ 500 yards anywhere but the target. Big Smile

I mean I AGREE that the SS is the only decent choice in that price range!

If all youre going to do is target practice, a fixed power is probably your best option.
I have an SS12X42 that I have been using to shoot steel out to 650-700 yards without a problem. The reticle and adjustments are nice too.

I havent tried it at 50 yards but it does fine and the rear parallax adjusts down to 10 meters. The parallax adjustment is a bit finicky and at 100 yards if your bullet lands in a black colored part of a paper target, it can be hard to see. But for $300 it cant be beat.
Easy come easy go

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

In your price range I would look at vortex viper 6.5-20x44. The fixed power ss is a great scope however I wouldnt get more then 10x. After that it is truly a one dementtional long range scope. I like my rifles to be more then just paper punchers. It tough to hunt with a 16x.
Dont take yourself to seriously
