Is there a significant difference between this 2 scopes?? I purchased a Zeiss Duralyt 3-12X50 a few months ago and I want to enter the high end optics world with one of this babies. Another option I'm considering is a 3-18X50 Z6 but the Zeiss is getting a little bit more of my attention.

I have a Kahles and love it..... but not sure about their customer service... so I'd probably go with Zeiss.

I have 2 Kahles C 3-12x56s, awesome optics in low light. Light weight, great resolution and to be honest at 1400 bucks this is a bargain 56mm european scope. My only knock on this scope is the plex recticle is too thin for really low light, but none the less its a great scope when you're losing light fast. But when you compare it to the Zeiss Diavari 3-12 FORGET ABOUT IT. The Zeiss 3-12 is the best low light scope you're going to find in a 56mm IMO. I bought mine here 12 years ago and I still haven't looked through a scope brighter in low light. Remember mine is 12 years old and Zeiss has improved the glass and coatings 2 or 3 times since. I can only imagine what the new HT 56s look like. I also like the Zeiss recticles for hunting in extremely poor light.

BTW the Swaro 3-18 has fabulous optics but IMO that scope is for someone who's into long range hunting/shooting. The 56s are for people who need the extra light right up to legal shooting time and hunting in truly poor lighting conditions such as back in thick woods with overcast.

seriously guys........ these are all Top-Notch optics. I will say this... my Kahles CL's reticle is a little thin at low light... but not during legal shooting time. I think the Zeiss reticle that is in the 3-9X40 Conquest is the bomb! Best that I've seen (although I haven't seen every reticle out there)

The C is FFP and in the ones I have, the reticles are very easy to see if you crank up the power.

I'm looking @ the #60 Illuminated reticle. So far I'm still more attracted to the Victory HT. The only thing i'm liking about the swaro is the Ballistic Turret with zero stop. It says something about a BDC device on the Zeiss but can't find how to get it. I don't know if it's something you have to send your scope to get it installed, or if you order the turrets or what. None of the retailers i've visited online say anithing about it.

I finally found out about the ASV+ from zeiss but still can't find the info on how to get it. It's advertised as an optional feature and it's a kit of 9 metal rings that match a lot of calibers but the calculator on zeiss' website doesn't work and no one offers the ASV+ as an accessory. |

I am going to run the Meopta for the foreseeable future..
Done enough hunts with it to be thoroughly impressed and confident in it's ability. I worked out a drop chart via the reticle for it.. http://tacticalgunreview.com/blog/2013/02/staff-article-want-to-shoot-farther-without-dialing-or-using-a-bdc-or-mildot-reticle/ |

Thanks..
I have a 4b on loan that is going back.. I believe it is 4" between each line It's a bold enough reticle to be able to see in very, very low light As is the dot of the 4c without the illumination I have watched deer past legal hunting time where I could not see them with my naked eye but could confidently make the shot without using the illumination. |

Those are the types of scopes I like to have... IF they can't perform to that level, they are of little use to me.

I tested Kahles CSX 3-12x56 and Victory HT 3-12x56 couple of months ago and have to say that I liked Victory HT more. It is brighter in low light and is has a better illumination point. However if you look at Kahles Helia C and don't need illuminated reticle then go for it since no other European scope can be bought for such a low price and with such a good glass at the moment. Kahles also offers 30 years warranty. |

KB... got to ask you about this statement... what is "so" useful being able to see "past legal hunting time" ? Not sure I asked that question right.... |

Well, for me, I don't want the scope to be the limiting factor
I want to be able take take a big buck right at last legal hunting time out to 250 yards I might also have glass on one and decide it is not a shooter.. That frankly to me is as important as being able to pull the trigger. I will also hunt at night for hogs So, low light performance to me is king I am not up in the mountains carrying a rifle for 12 hours a day, so weight and offhand balance isn't that crucial for me. I wish I was, but I am not. If I get out and stalk hunt I use a different rifle.. |
