I just mounted a 10x SS to a stock Remington rifle.

My best 3 shot group @ 100 yards measured in the 3's.

This was using my handloads with 168gr. Hornaday HPBT's.

What kind of information were you looking for, Sir?

I have almost the same set up. My Savage is a 10FPLE-A2  .308 with the SS16x42 and the combination is deadly. Look on the back cover of the Warne Scope Mounts 2006 catalog and you'll see this rifle. I was so impressed with the way the combination performed that we put it in the catalog for all to see.

This is an excellent choice of scopes great value sturdy scope. I have two Savage 10 FP a .308 with 20 in and a .223 Choate.  The .223 Choate is the most accurate rifle I have but the .308 with 20 in is so handy at 50 its one hole at 100 its about 1/2 in and continues to be 1/2 moa past that. These both shoot tighter than my Rem 700 PSS. If I wanted extreme accuracy I would buy the one with the McMillan stock and 26 in barrel which I might just do anyway cause I hate .223 but I can't get rid of this .223 because it shoots so dam good. Savage Rifles are awesome the only way to get anything better is Tac Ops or GAPrecision.

I'd like to have one of the folding ones too.  http://www.savagearms.com/10fpfoldingchoate.htm

You have to have more than one rifle so you can let them cool down after 3-5 shots.---- RIGHT

Well said, I have a total of three of the Savage, Choate stocked LE rifles and one FN SPR. Quite often I'll take all four to the range so I've got cool barrel to shoot at any given time. All three Savage rifles together cost less than the SPR and any one of them  will out shoot the SPR.

Maybe I'm measuring wrong.

Total 3 shot group size outside to outside was .555

I subtracted .308 and came up with .247.

Am I "sifering" wrong??

1/4" C2C is a very GOOD group. The best I've done for a three shot group is 0.130. I've not been able to repeat tight of a group again, but I'm working on it.

0.130 is SMOKING!! Excellent!!

My factory Remington shoots pretty good.

Never had a factory round in the chamber.

I turn necks, which I know doesn't make a difference on a factory stick, chase run out, and generally am pretty anal about my case prep.

Black Betty and my SS 10x do the rest......

The 0.130 rifle is a Savage 10FPLE2A .308 with a Super Sniper SS 16 and it too has never had a factory stick fed to it.

You know I'm just shuckin' ya!!
I've got black bettys twin sister, bolt knob on the left too. I know these girls love 168Gr BTHP's  I took me three shot to Zero My SS.  I'll  have to beg or barrow my  daughters' digital camera. So I can post some Pix. next time I take mine out to the range. Later Y'all.

I think you're math is right cheaptrick. If you measure outside to outside and subtract the caliber/ diameter, that would equal center to center measurement.........Sounds about like one ragged hole, or close to it.

I actually shot a 3 shot group @ 300 hundred yards that measured .630ish.

THAT group was pure luck and no wind!!

The group actually had two shots touching and the last shot I flinched and it was a flier.

I had a USO SN-3 3.2-17x44mm on her back then.

I'm 100% satisfied with my SS.....And Black Betty.

Benz:

Yeah, the 168gr. AMAX are the heat with this rifle.

What powder you use?

I use Varget, but am thinking about trying RL15.

RM:

Yeah, I would like to shoot 175gr. pills, but haven't had much luck with Varget.

Add to the fact my Remington has a 1-12 twist, doesn't help.

Wish it were a little faster, like a 1-10 twist.

I'm going to try the RL15 w/ 168gr. pills.

What primer do you like? Fed 210 Gold Medal??

Cheaptrick,

Try the same 42.2 gr. load with the 168 pill. I use the very same load with both and I never have a complaint on the way they shoot. As for the RL15 powder, I believe in it.
