Own a few of the Marlin X rifles myself, 25-06, 308 and 7mm-08. Yep, the Marlin X rifles are an inexpensive rifle and I don't particularly care for its stock, but like tman said, they are accurate. |

I just finished a "project" for a friend. I handlapped and broke in the bore of a Savage Axis 25-06 ($350), installed a Timney trigger adjusted at 2.4 lbs., crisp and nice, mounted a DNZ medium one peice mount and a Nikon Monarch 3 scope, and developed handloads for the rifle. Before i started with the rifle it was shooting 1.2-1.5" with cheap Remington ammo. After i was done with all the fun work and used the once fired brass (fully processed and sorted and neck sized), the rifle shoots 0.3-0.5" 5 shot groups. I sort of liked it too much.

I am sorry for the late post, but got kind of busy. The rifle is really beautiful and far exceeds the expectations I had. Best trigger I have ever shot and the rifle is very accurate (1 inch with factory loads) and I have only had the opportunity to shoot about 40 rounds so far. I have a friend that is working up some different loads and that should be fun. The Z6i is also unbelievable (2-10x50). I can't wait for deer season!

I am a big fan of the Coopers. That said, you blew the $1,500 budget. You did get value for every $ spent. Love your rifle!
