I tried out some reloads for my AR-15 (DPMS) this morning and every fired casing had "ding" mark on the neck...it was even happening to factory loads.  I tried different magazines but it was still happening.

Does anyone happen to know what would be causing this?  Could it be the casing catching a lug during ejection?

+1.  Looks like your cases are hitting something while they are either being chambered or ejected.  You can rule out the former by chambering a round and slowly extracting it manually before firing.  If it has the mark before the extractor flips it, it's hitting something on the way in.

I'd say it was hitting as well.  do you have an adjustable gas block by chance? if so close it so your gun doesn't cycle, when you fire a round slowly eject it so you can see if its something in the chamber causeing it.

Looks to me like it may be hitting the locking lugs on the barrel extension.  You are probably a little over gassed.  An adjustable gas block like SVT suggested would probably fix the problem.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Are all of your 20K posts this helpful?  Big Grin  (just kiddin)

I did a little digging on the interwebz and it sounds like this is fairly common.  I'm not sure if the gas block is adjustable but I'll check it out.  I'll try extracting a couple of spent cases tonight and see what happens.

Will there be any issue reloading these cases?

Thanks for the help (even Pryo).

its the type of whiskey that you pour into a glass on the rocks, and just sip and enjoy for a while. no need to mix it.
