I have just baught a Winchester 70 Super Express in 458win. The first i did was, i send it to a gunsmith to make a 458LOTT...
He said that he must cut of a lot material at the back side of the frame and that the space between the bases will be long. What scope will fit my rifle??

Something with lots and lots of eye relief.  You will have to measure the distance between the rings to know for sure.  Have your gunsmith measure it for you and then you will be able have a better idea on what will fit and what will not.  Leupold makes an ultralight low powered scope that many people use on their big bore rifles.  They hold up well to the punishing recoil.

I have 4x Zeiss Conquest on  my Lott, 4x Pentax Gameseeker on .458 WinMag.  Both are excellent for the rifles and serve me well out to 400yards.  I once phoned Leupold's main offices and asked about a variable scope for 458 Lott.  The answer was "we do not make a variable scope that we recommend for the the Lott".

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

My friend has a 585nyati and mounted a VX2 on it. That one fell apart after 5-6 shoots...Whacko
Now he has the VX-R on it and that works. What about the Redfield Rev in 4-12X40?? Does anyone use it? It has genorus eyerelif and at a nice price...But will it hold? I have also looked at the 3-9X40 VX2 it seems tha it has a long middle section.
