MOA and MRAD can be tricky I guess.
It never changes and is a constant. Do not confuse the TWO they are very different. Why did I convert MRAD to inches when MM are the standard unit. Because we still measure in inches and still call MOA groups (I don't like it either)...
Milliradian usage is not complicated, though it may seem so at first.
1000radians = milliradian
1 milliradian = 1000radians
Basically, one “mil” equals 1 unit at 1000 units of distance.
So a 1” object will occupy 1 mil of space on the reticle when it is 1000 inches away.
3.6” at 3600 inches (100 yards)
1 foot at 1000 feet
1 “mil”=
1 yards at 1000 yards
1 meter at 1000 meters
For those thinking in terms of Minute-of-Angle (MOA),
1 mil = 3.438 MOA.
I still get asked this very frequently and was just PM'd about how to know these values. SEE THE MATH PORTION AT THE BOTTOM
Rule of thumb: 1 MOA = rounded 1 inch @ 100yrds or 10 inches @ 1000yrds
so simply use .25 or .125 x distance. That makes it much easier.
As shown the math is ridiculous so maybe use
(1.04" or 10.4"at 1000yrds).
Rule of thumb: 1 MRAD = 3.6" @100yrds or 36" @ 1000yrds
so increments of .36 and .18 x distance. Again Easy
SKIP TABLE 2 as you should not really measure in meters and shoot in inches but I did get the question as a few clubs are in meters and a few people are out of this country. The math in Meters and CM is much more simple.
I did this in Excel as an easier way to do things I guess it might have confused some.
Simply pick your value of correction on your scope either in MOA or MRAD and then pick your distance that will tell you how much you are moving with 1 CLICK or POSITION VALUE...
This is not a replacement of any mildot or reticle measurement system this is for someone who has common plex or crosshairs or target dot and has troubles with the math or needs a cheat sheet.
