    Posted: October/03/2012 at 15:39
I have the opportunity to go on a Black Bear Hunt in Arkansas on October 13th -14th.

We are going to the Ozark National Forest and will be camping out.

Hopefully, we will have a video.

But I'm going through what I need and wanted to get some feedback from you guys and see if there are any items that I'm missing or could enhance my hunt.

Here's the list.
Truck
Diesel
Bow
Arrows
Broadheads
Side Arm
Binocs
Scent Control
Tree Stand
Video Cam
Cooler
Water
Knife
Rope
Sleeping bag
Tent
Fire Starting material
Compass
Added:
Base layers
Rain Gear
Thermacell
Flashlight
Archery Block.

Is there anything you guys think I'm missing?

This is an overnighter so I'm not taking everthing, just the essentials.

Some good thermal (polypropylene) under garments. Can get cold there in that part of the world.

Extra socks....Wink
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Rain gear, even if it's just a Army type poncho you can throw in your truck. Grew up north of there and weather can get tricky, even that early in the fall.
Better to have it and not need it.....ah...you know.

Cold camp or will you be cooking?
Little Debbie cakes (Oatmeal & Molasses.) Bears like them too!
I will send you some good luck, so use it wisely.

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Zanex or Valium !! Bear hunting is intense, if things come together where you realize they can climb trees or see in person how fast they can climb trees..........it's a major adrenaline rush and they can eat you !Some of the most intense bowhunting I have done , way different than my perception on TV.I would say it was the pinnacle of my bowhunting career!

I have been thru there once, just once. Take some Ky Jelly and baby oil. It will help if you need to stop into one of those back road stations or so I have heard. also take http://swfa.com/ThermaCELL-Mosquito-Repellent-C2678.aspx

Head light and extra batteries and multiple flashlights.  Bear bag for camp.  GPS and good topo map of area that you are hunting.

Good luck.

Make sure you kill the bear uphill from the truck.  That's some rough terrrain in some areas.

Add a book or something to read to occupy the slow times.
