I have an .223 AR-15 from Rock River Arms with a 16'' barrel and a flat top carry handle. I've been looking around on the internet for hours searching for a rifle scope that will fit my budget of $150-$250 without having it break on me and be able to hold the zero in quite well. Being able to see bullet wholes on distances up to 50-200 yards is where my target range is at. Also, a relatively thicker scope with Mil-Dot would be nice. I'm fresh new on scopes so all help would be appreciated.

Just so you're aware, the scope mount alone I put on mine would take up most of your budget. I would think you're almost better off using BUIS instead of a budget scope and a cheap mount. And you will most likely need some type of cantilever mount to position the scope forward enough - imo. |

I'm not de-valuing Wes' reccomendation, but if price is the contributing factor, What about the BSA Sweet 223?

The Fixed power SS line is tough as nails especially at 299. Goto Swfa.com and check out all the reviews. Aswell as everywhere on the net. You'll never run out of adjustment range and they hold zero like no other for the price. |

No disrespect intended I'm not sure that I'd put a BSA on anything. Admittedly there are worse scopes but they're pretty close to bottom rung. I'd look at Bushnell's Legend line, Burris' Fullfield II, Nikon's Bushmaster, Sightron's S1 and Weaver's Classic V product lines. Good quality optics are more important than magnification or a tacticool reticle.

It seems as though I will go with the
4-12x40 Redfield Revolution rifle scope kit unless I there are scope mounts that would run for around $50 so I can purchase the SWFA Tactical scope without busting my card. Would the SWFA Aluminum 30mm rings that run for about $40 work well?

If you can get them in Extra High I see no reason they wouldn't work. I have cheap tacticool weaver rings on an SS on a 308 and they never move. On an AR just be sure to purchase extra high to get proper eye position.

Burris P.E.P.R. mounts aren't that much more. I use high-buck mounts on my real AR15s but I tried a quick disconnect P.E.P.R. my MP15-22 and I'm pretty happy with it. I do think it's worth the extra $20 for the QD version so you can remove and replace it with some repeatability.

Is there any warranty on the SWFA SS tactical rifle scopes? I can't seem to find any.

SWFA stands behind all their scopes no questions asked, short of user abuse. Even then some may be covered knowing them. NO worries when dealing with SWFA.

It looks like I'll be purchasing the SWFA SS MRAD scope in a few weeks now, unless I can get any other suggestion that will turn my head. I appreciate all the help. thank you.
