Just purchased a used gun with a Redfield Illuminator scope, 3x9x42. It has 2 horizontal lines above the duplex recticle. When viewing/looking through the scope, you see in the right hand corner a yardage marker that changes when you turn the power ring. At 3 power, it shows 200, and by turning the ring it climbs up to 600 at 9 power.
How is this scope used, and is it a certain special variation of the Illuminator line? Is there a manual for this model? As I have had no luck surfing the net for one. Is there any way of finding out when and where it was made?? Thanks in advance

The reticle you have is called "AccuTrack" Bracket a deer sized animal between the stadia lines and turn the power ring until the animal fills the lines top to bottom (belly to back) and then read the distance. This tells you the range to the animal. These scope usually came with different dials (you used the one that was closest to the ballistics of your rifle) for the top turret. You then turned the top turret dial till it matched the range in the scope. Hold dead on and shoot. That was the theory anyway.

Illuminators were started back in the eighties and went until 1997.
