I purchased a gently used Rem 700 LVSF in .223, I plan to use this at the range occasionally but mostly hunting coyote/varmints.  Would like to hear some opinions on what to stick on it.  The rifle is nice and light and I would like to keep the weight low, but I would like to have some magnification for varminting.  Fire away!  Budget is 600.00.

Any of these would do well with .223 effective range. You really have many fine choices, many less expensive and by no means limited to these linked- too many to link!
I limited links to scopes I've owned/own:

I have the second scope below on my .223.  If I were to do it again, I'd probably spend the extra $50 and get the long range version with the turrets (first listed below).  Best of luck.

Remember the HS LR scopes have 1/2 moa adjustments for elevation.  Ideal for big game,  IMO, but maybe a little coarse for a varmint rig.

I like the MOA/MOA PST for this application.

Good point. I really like my Viper HS for the money (non Long-Range version).  It's 1/4 MOA adjustments, and the BDC reticle is fairly fine, so it won't cover up the smaller critters.

Minox Z5 4-20x50.There are a few on the Sample list. They are light, have 1/8 moa turrets,& German SCHOTT GLASS,which rivals Zeiss conquest glass.I have one on my .22lr & can't say enough good things about the scope & the CS.

Range will be out to 500 yards, I would like magnification of at least 14, nothing against the good ol 3-9x40, but I would think there is a better option for long range varmint scopes.  I got in on the 5-20/1-6 buy and after seeing the glass in the 5-20, I would like similar glass.

I think Bitterroot is referring to this scope, IMO this has sufficient mag and u can use the reticle to reach ur range.

+2 I had one a varmint rig for a year or so. It was a great scope for the money.

I believe Meotpa is the OEM that provides the optics for the Zeiss conquest line.  Meopta primarily uses Schott and Ohara glass. Regardless that does not really matter who makes the raw glass.  If it is up to spec it is up to spec.  The coatings and design of the optic are of more importance than the raw glass.
