I'm going to buy a SWFA 1-4x24 30mm tube. This will go on my AR where I've never mounted a scope (I'm an AR newbie). Why should I spend $200+ on Bobro or similar mounts when I can get these for $40: http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-Tac-30mm-1-Rings-P47907.aspx Stupid question? I dunno.
I won't need to switch the scope. My LMT has a continuous picatinny rail, so there will be plenty of adjustment potential. |

For the money, that is a decent set of rings. I have one set of those and they are serviceable. I would suggest lapping them though.

I highly doubt u will be able to get the proper eye relief with those. U need a mount that is designed for ars. Not just tall rings.

If he has a rifle with a monolithic rail, he will be able to get proper eyerelief as long as the height of the rings works for him. ILya

I would still use a one piece mount made for AR's, will make mounting the scope easier. The Burris PEPR is made for a flat top AR and is less than $75.
http://swfa.com/Burris-AR-PEPR-30mm-Scope-Mount-P12623.aspx I have mounted scopes on ARs with rings before and while it works, using a one piece mount makes it a lot easier to get everything lined up and level. |

Burris mounts are fine for the money. If you install it the same way each time the scope will retain zero with very little deviation.

Top is the Bobro,
Below is one like the Burris PEPR Quality wise there is no comparison between the Bobro and a PEPR. But for the price difference, there shouldn't be. If you are on a tight budget, I would go with the Burris PEPR vs just rings. Edited by supertool73 - June/22/2012 at 16:52 |
