Can someone give me an opinion on these binoculars and their approximate value? I have been in search for a pair of nice high quality binoculars and were offered these in a trade for a Kimber 45 I have in trade which I value around $1,000. Is this a fair trade?
This is what the sellers says about them "These are approx 3 years old I used them for two. They have some dust on the frames due to me using them in west Texas, its impossible to keep them clean out here. The lenses are in perfect condition as well as the binos themselves. They have a lifetime warranty that is transferrable so you will have no problems ever having them taken care of, I called leupold to verify this."
They are 10x42 HD's
Here are the pics.

Those are excellent mid-priced binoculars. They look like they are in fine condition.
IMO, they are worth between $500 and $700 tops. Personally, I wouldn't get interested until the $500 side of the value range. I would NOT make that trade straight over.

A few summers ago I made a (6) mid-size bin comparison and went with the 8x32 Gold Rings non-HD for under $350 shipped. Awesome glass albeit a bit heavy. I agree with the others around the $500-$700 range, but I would question the need for 10x. Unless you're out west glassing the next mountain over, my opinion an 8x would serve you well - ymmv.

The Leupold Gold Ring are exceptional binoculars, and like Matt told you, beat the Nikon in almost every imaginabile way. The only real factor in favor of the Monarch is its weight. The Leupold is heavy, but there is a lot of high quality glass in those ounces.
The thing is, to be clear is not that the Leupood Binocular is not a good one, it is that the deal you are offered happens to see a rifle worth more than that binocular on today's market
