Well, I guess that defines  "looking at the world through rose colored glasses".  Looks like a cheap ruby coated, throw away, bubble wrap. over the counter at the local cheap mart to me.

Just goes to show that his knowledge of optics is right on par with his grasp of everything else. Smile

I would be willing to bet that he was handed a pair of binoculars by one of his military generals.

Perhaps that is just as much Food-for-Thought as "everything else".  Wink

Probably that was what happened.  They probably had to focus them for him and even tell him which end to look through for all I know.  I am also pretty sure that that was nothing more than a staged photo-op anyway.  I have serious doubts BO would have a clue what he was seeing even if he had a set of Swarovision.

That still leaves the over riding thing here ..."what in the world is a "bubble wrap crap" binocular doing on the front lines anyway?"  If anybody involved in that whole shot had a clue to begin with the whole picture would have been different, hence the content of my above quoted post.  Maybe BO's defense cuts have forced the military to have to buy ...Barska's?

that is funny.  I actually saw a still picture of Obama on the news looking through these, and I thought the same thing.  Someone handed him a pair of Barska's for a photo op.

speaking of seeing.

Obama had promised his admin would be the most transparent in history, and Since the beginning before he was even elected I agree!  I have always seen right through him!!

Not that I like the guy, so don't take this to mean I do, but lets face it, if he had a pair of really good/expensive binocs, people would be slaughtering him for spending governments funds to get such an expensive pair.
