I am looking at getting a new Browning X-bolt for deer hunting, i am thinking of going with the wood stock Hunter model, or should i just go with the Composite Stalker?

I find I'm much less mindful of my composite stocked rifles... not so "picky" about whether they get a little banging around.  That said, the wood stocks have a beauty composites just cannot match.  With the Browning, I don't think you will EVER see an accuracy difference due to stock warpage.  I never have.  It's personal preference... sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't...

really depends on you - I grew up with wood stocks but most of what I buy now is stainless + synthetic.

Normally I'd say composite/synthetic but with the Browning X-bolt I say wood.

I don't like the looks of composite
Browning X-bolt, but they did a really good job with the wood version. As for the Browning X-bolt itself, I bought one in .243 for my daughter it's a little tack driver.

IMO...go with the Hunter (wood stock).  I have one in 280 and I have no problems carrying it around all day.  Plus a scratch or 2 on a wood stock just adds character to the gun.

As Kickboxer stated, there is something to be said about the beauty of a nice wood stock. I prefer wood, but I hunt in such a way that I don't have to worry about scratching my stocks. If I were more in to the stalk type of hunting, hunting large tract of open land, I may go with composite, or maybe opt for the wood "Hunter" model.

I've gone composite on anything I use regularly. I agree though...a nice wood stock can be a thing of beauty.
