hi guys, i have a used but fairly tidy pair of dollond london & provinces 9x40 binoculars in original what looks like leather and suade case, the binos have a leather strap. on the binos it has written dollond london on 1 side, owlond 9x40 on the other, the middle bar has 166812. the right eye piece can twist and has + - 5 each way. what sort of value if any do you guys think they might hold? i can get pics if required.
TIA

Simon Spears has a few posts here and I think he probably has one like yours.  If he doesn't see this and respond, you might try giving him a PM.  Look up one of his posts and check out his collection from the link in his signature.

Welcome to OT.

Well ST fixed you up, but I see I did Simon a disservice and spelled his name wrong.  Simon Spiers, not Spears.  Sorry about that Smile.

At any rate even if Simon doesn't have that particular one, he'll know about it if anyone here will.

Simon Spears is itBandito
Sorry I have not responded, but all I can say is a value of maybe £30 for a real good example.
Dollond binoculars are Wray's soft coatings very variable optics, and usually a seized solid dioptre.
If you post some pictures I would however be interested, I have a few Dollonds some good some very bad, but the Owl*** models are of particular interest.

As I thought, it's exactly the same as a Wray, Wrayvu. The eyepieces are of very simple design, and the binocular on the whole is below average optically, sorry.

Here is my Wrayvu...

I would say £25 max. If they were the Wrayvu they would have less value as the Wray is a common find. The Owlden is a rare binocular and is hence worth a bit more.

Ebay, Gumtree are the only place that they may go.
Ebay start bid £5 would be my guess if the optics are not clean.
