I am looking for a new scope for a Rem 700 5R 20 inch barrel.  I first ordered a Viper PST 4x16 however canceled the order on lack of availability, negative reviews and my willingness to spend more cash for a better tool.

I narrowed it down to....

Razor HD 5-20x
S&B Police marksmen 4x16
Steiner 4-16x50 Military

I like the Razor for the company hate the fact its Japaneses and I am worried about over magnification.
I love the German made products, however the S&B in my price range seems like an old design and no illumination.

This leaves me with the Steiner -  seems perfect specs however no one can tell me much about it and it is non-existent on their website.  For example whats the warranty?

Thx for your help.

What specs are you looking for on the scope?  We might be able to give you more suggestions on scopes if you give us specs on what you are looking for and intended use.

Good point.  My intended use is 200-800 yard target shooting.  I am getting back into shooting after a 20 year break, so basically I am starting over.  As a kid I enjoyed finding the "hold point" for various rifles as I moved the target around, looking for the same type of fun.

thx

You might want to read these two reviews. Some very good info and some other options. For me I would be looking at either a Hensoldt, a Premier Heritage or a USOptics as well the S&B.

Man, I would just get the SS 5-20 and put the 800.00 back in my pocket or down on something else. But thats just me spending your money that scope will do everything you want and more. If your just dead set on spending it all I agree the Hensoldt or even the Razor would be it and I wouldnt sweat any optic made in Japan almost all the top end ones are.

USO SN3 in 3.2-17 ERGO or TPAL depending on your preference ...
The SS 5-20 suggestion and take the extra $$$ for ammo and range time isn't a bad idea either.

The budget allowed would make my decision ... but im a huge USO fan ... when I can't swing a USO I run a SS until I can.
