I can't say enough good things about my 4-16x44 vortex viper HS. It's $499. For another $50, you can get the LR version, with a bdc turret. Great scope for the money. Glass is clear, has side focus, and adjustments are positive with resettable zero on both windage and elevation. I'm jealous, 338 WM is my next rifle, and unless I hit the lotto, it's getting the vortex viper HS in either the scope I described above, or the 4-16x50 LR version.

Deck.

I'd want the 4" of eye relief you get with the Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40... it also has nice glass and has a great reticle for low light.  I have two of these... the price has gone up a bit since I got mine.
