Supposedly this scope was to be available a year ago.
Meopta took it off their website for quite a while and I have been told by several vendors that it will be available "next month or next year". It appears to be one of those "phantom" products that is advertised but never becomes available. The specs look good but if it never becomes generally available then you might as well look for something else..sad to say that as I like many Meopta products. When I can actually see one or test one then I will believe in it's existence. You might want to look at Vortex and Zen Ray. Thanks Art |

Thanks Gulf,
I have a local Meopta dealer. He reported to me. That Meopta will provide a new price list after the SHOT show. I'll get back to you. If this model will be available real soon with price. The product seems fine. But some of you guys might have seen it at the SHOT show? I like Meopta product. I have one scope in FFP http://www.meoptasportsoptics.com/prod.php?prod=305&nav1=2&nav2=3

Hi guys,
The MeoStar S2 82mm APO spotting scope is here at the 2012 SHOT Show and will be available for consumers in the Spring. Suggested Retail Pricing is available as well and dealers will be getting their orders in over the next few weeks. Thanks!

Very interesting spotter. The specs on that 30-60 WA are nice.
My buddy is at SHOT, and said it looks pretty nice. He also liked the iphone digiscoping bracket.

I would love to get my hands on one of these to test the eye relief. (the Nikon Edge 82mm has such poor eye relief that it is pretty much unusable for eyeglass wear's)
"It will be available in the Spring". I hope it will be the spring of 2012, not 2013 or 2014. The reason I have been so frustrated is because Meopta makes such good equipment for the dollars spent, excellent value for the level of performance. I wonder how close it will be to the upper end scopes like the Zeiss, Leica and Swaroski in terms of eye relief and field of view. I think SWFA will get an order when it appears on the website. Thanks Art |

I don't know about the rules about pricing on this board, so I'll be safe and say to contact SWFA or Meopta USA directly for the MSRP pricing on the MeoStar S2 82 as well as the ZD 6-24x56.
"Avaialble in the Spring" meant 2012 :-) As far as performance and quality of the S2, the scope is designed and tests out along the lines with any "Alpha" brand spotting scope on the market today. It's not a cheap scope, but it is meant to be on par or better than anything you put up against it.

It's a pretty tall order IMO, especially when you say "anything". |

Yeah, it definitely is a tall order, but I think the S2 will be up to the task.

What side by side or other testing have you done to confirm your statement that it will rival "anything"? Is it the result of testing, or just opinion? It may very well be jus that, but I'm more than just curious how you arrived at that conclusion. Thanks.

Cheaper than Swaro but more than http://opticsthoughts.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=65:vortex-razor-hd-20-60x85-spotting-scope&catid=6:spotting-scope-reviews&Itemid=6This new spotting scope needs a side by side evaluation before I invest in one.

Hello all.
Iliya, I am wondering if you had a chance at SHOT to look over the Meopta M2 and if so what did you think of it? Thanks in advance for any insights you might have. Art |

My statement was based on opinion, and a personal observation of a prototype MeoStar S2 vs. the Kowa TSN-880. Once serial production models of the S2 are released I am sure we will see side-by-side comparisons done in some publications/websites.
