That is what the article claims, but after reading it they will be replacing the receiver and barrel....so you get a real stock, scope and accessories reassembled on a new receiver and barrel.

Still pretty cool, wish they would reuse the barrel and allow the end user to replace it if needed.

Anyone active duty that would like to make some cash if you can get one and sell it to us?

I need one......... Pretty sure I fall pretty far down on the priority list though.

Ashley is officially out but Preston and Paul are both Currently Serving National Guard = Priority 2.
I just dont see any info on what the price will be --- that is the wild card on this deal.

the generosity of it all, ad sounds tongue in cheek.  Not sure why one would want one, maybe put up by an old A3 or a Garand. Army surplus is just what it sounds like.

They just don't ever offer them to the public.  I've heard of Vietnam era M-40's selling for as much as $40,000.

When the return stocks were available (M40A1 McMillan HTGs), you could initially find them for $250 or so, now they go for over $1,000 with proper documentation.

If you get a chance to buy an authentic M24, buy it, if only for collection value.

The 300WM is  a far better choice for all-around military applications, the 338LM, better still.

If you get a chance at one, take it; you'll be able to sell it for more than it cost in a few months or years.

Hmmm.  I wonder what the price on these units will be?  I'm only number three on the list right now. LOL.  So I don't really hold much hope for getting one.  From what I understand they will raffle off some at Shot, and then the rest will be sold in order of priority.  So maybe if you take down the post I will have a chanceBig Grin.  Would love to have one, or two...

Read a little more about it.  These are from stock issued from 1988(yr introduced) to present and will be sold for roughly half of what they cost the mil.  However it doesn't specify if that is in 1988 to ???? dollars or today's money for the same gun.  Pretty strategic planning though to release them right about tax time...
