Why would my scope sighted in at 8x be off at 12x? At 100 yds shooting 30/06 165 grain, 8x is dead on but when I dial up to 12x I'm not even on the paper (shooting about 12 inches left). |

I had that once on an old bushnell. I finally noticed that the ocular bell was so lose it had a lot of side to side play. I tightened but up which focused it better for me anyway the the problem was gone. Not sure if this is your issue or not.

If the rings are not round or over tightend this sort of thing can happen.

Common problem in older variable scopes, now only in the lowest cost versions I also had an old Bushnell like that.
