Guess I'm full of questions today.

Anyway, I was thinking about getting my son a crossfire 3-9x40 with V-Bright reticle for his .223.

Always heard good things about Muellers for thier price point.

14 years old and he doesn't take care of his equipment so let me know your thoughts, etc

I would forget illumination for now and buy him a scope with tactical knobs.  He is at the perfect age to learn how to use a mil dot sniper scope and may well need the knowledge if he joins the service.
Pick the 6x or the 10x and get in on the deal before its over.

I would not get him anything if he didn't agree to take care of it to the best of his ability.
