I have a savage 16 in 260 rem.  It is going to be my go to deer rifle so I will be using it from October through January as I hunt in Georgia and Alabama.  Here are my choices:   Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, Vortex Viper 2.5-10x44, Sightron Big Sky II 3-9x42, Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42, Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40, Bushnell Elite 2.5-10x40, and finally, Burris Signature Select 3-10x40.  Help!

I would go with either the Conquest, or the Bushnell elite.  Just my .02 cents. With the Conquest getting the nod over the Bushnell.

If cost is a big factor, can find the Elite 4200 3-9x40 for 149 now and have it matched or beat here, heck of a buy.  Zeiss is 400, so are you going to get 251 dollars of difference?

At over twice the price, not going to get twice the scope, at least my thought.
That thing on the left....my old ride, some days I miss her.

I like the Zeiss as well, but I really like the Vortex Viper HS as well.
I don't think the SII is going to preform as well in sharpness and resolution IMO.
The Nikon and Leupold are also pretty nice as well.
For the value, weight vs rate, I believe the Viper HS is the winner.
It's not quite as expensive as the Conquest, but you get the same great CS aspects, from both companies.
They would rival each other like two college teams.
If it were the SII, I would say any of the top three, but I think you would be in great shape with your first two choices.
Which reticle were you thinking about?

Agreed.  The 4200 has great glass, is tough, and rainguard works.
