Ive done some similar projects on farm land that I have in Iowa. The way we plant rows of trees here is a ripper on back of a tractor with someone placing the young trees in as it goes along.  I still plant some native prairie grass also which is good wildlife habitat. I go out and pick several types of native prairie grass: little blue stem, big blue stim, switch grass etc.  Some of these grasses grow up to 8 ft tall and are excellend wildlife habitat which grows much faster than trees and schrubs.
If you want quail  you can take a roll of wire with holes larger than the birds but difficult for preditors to get through and run the wire in concentric circles planting schrubs in between the circles.  If done near a pond the quail will do very will if you build a couple of these  so they can escape preditors.

There are at least three bobcats there and  yes they can be hunted so long as you have a trapping license also and until a limited number of them are taken.  One of my sons is at the farm hunting now.  No telling what he will come back with possibly a wild turkey likely a buck.

Sounds like from what I read in the paper yesterday that your part of the world hasn't had much winter yet. I guess you can get more done on your project, yet it seems surprising that places like Tromso, Norway are above freezing right now. It's -15°C (5°F) in Anchorage, AK.
Reaction time is a factor...

Jono:
Thats right. But normally Norway do get a lot more snow and frost than we do.You know we are more south than they are.
We are hit by bad weather over here now though. Heavy rain - a lot of wind and a hurrycane comming up during the night.
We have been planting all day though, but im affraid that we have to skip tomorrow if the weather forecast is true.
