I wonder why the Mark 6 scope has a 20mm objective lens. I thought this would be based on the VX-6 1-6x24 model.

Could be a typo, this is the first released price list and they typically have several revisions.

I dont suppose you could convince Leupold to start putting a more useful reticle in the FX3 6x42 Competition Hunter the thin crosshair with target dot just doesnt cut it for the hunting end of the scope while it is probably ideal for competition its not great for hunting where the long range duplex would be a sweet choice with target knobs. I kind of like the FX II fixed 8x SWFA exclusive model and I may have to get one of those but the FX3 glass is noticably better than FX II

Whats the deal with Luepold? They keep doing this and it makes more and more confusing everytime they upgrade a model.
vari-xII->VXII->VX-2
vari-xIII->VXIII->VX-3
It makes buying a scope on line confusing, especially used ones. You don't know what you are actually getting until you open the box. I know this won't happen at swfa but there will be online dealers that are going to adverise VXII's as VX2's and allot of people are not going to realize they paid the new price for the old model. I'm just saying this because I saw it happen when the XV-3's came out. Edited by JimFromTN - December/16/2011 at 15:58 |

For those who keep hearing about the TREMOR 2 reticle and it sounds promising here is a look.
Pretty thin posts on low power IMO. Other than that looks like a pretty promising scope from Leupold.
BUT....... I will stick to my 5-20!!!

OK. This I do not quite get. I have been a very open critic of a lot of things Leupold does (and how they market their tactical scope is one of them), but being so pissed at them doe snot make much sense to me. If you do not like what they have got to offer, do not buy their products.
As far as the Tremor reticle goes, while complicated, it does have it uses and I suspect it is targeted at people who can figure that use out. ILya

There is a use for the reticle. Maybe it does not seem practical for your use in a riflescope. This style reticle has been extremely popular with many competition shooters. Bushnell has Horus style reticles in there new scopes along with many others and they are making a big splash in the market.
I am by no means a pro but from my position I see the demand that many shooters have. The price tag is a bit much but it not the craziest thing I have seen in my short time in the market. Only time will tell how this line goes. |
