I will soon be purchasing a Remington 700 SPS SS in .223. I am looking for a scope that can be used for varmints and target practice/spinning turrets up to 300 yards. I would like to stay under $500. The following is what I would like in a scope but don't know if all is available in one scope:
Are these features feasible in one scope package? |

SS 6X or SS 3-9 or leupold VX-R 3-9 patrol. the 3-9's are both $100 past your price, but well worth it.
but they are all mil type scopes. the 3-9's are mil/mil |

I thought about SS 6x scope. Wasn't too crazy about the reticle choices.
Mostly I would use this gun for hunting. |

What about a Zeiss conquest with target turrets installed? Does Minox or Meopta offer target turrets?

Thanks for all the help!! The Vortex Viper HS Rifle scope has caught my attention. How is the glass compared to zeiss conquest, minox, and meopta?
Also, looking at Nikon M-223 scope....any thoughts on this scope?
Thanks again!!

I would get the 10x SS for your uses. Although not optimum for the close shots, it will do. Plenty of magnification for 300 yards. Excellent durability and repeatability.

The zeiss is top of the line glass but double the price of Vortex in the 500 to 600 range the scope I like best is the Super Sniper 3-9 with the new mil quad reticle. If you can afford more money and want more power look at the used Zeiss Conquest scopes You could pick up one have it sent to Zeiss have tactical knobs installed

I would like the super sniper but not crazy about reticle selection for hunting. The for Vortex I was referring to was the HS that you listed for $500. Does the conquest have that much better glass?
Anyone look at the Nikon m-223? |
