The more I read about the Burris, the better it sounds. Too bad it's so darn ugly tho. Congrats on your hunt!

I really had not thought about aesthetics much other than it is "blocky."
I am more about performance than looks. If a product does what you want, the scope in this case, begins to look better every time you use it |

Very nice write up as always Ernie. I'm not on the eliminator band wagon yet, but i feel in a few years the optics and the aesthetics will improve.....maybe then. |

Thank´s for the review Ernie,
I have only looked through the Eliminator briefly but wasn´t overly impressed, but hey, that´s my way of greeting all "new" things.
What do you think of the optics ? Does the Eliminator function at dusk & dawn ?
Will it give the correct range and are the optics "up to par" in those circumstances ?

Good questions.
I have not even done a good comparison of the Eliminator to their own (Burris) good traditional glass, but my gut response is it does not. At the moment, I do not own a Burris scope of comparable power. Also, I have not tried to use it at dusk or dawn yet, though it was relatively early and cloudy when I shot my second buck. I know I never did feel hampered by the scope when I used it. More use in lower light conditions is definitely needed for me to give a good answer. As far as giving correct distance and subsequent correction in the scope, yes it did great. I compared it to my Leica 1600 and Swaro LRF's.

I've not used the Eliminator, but compared its predecessor to the Nikon Laser IRT and chose the Nikon. However, the earlier Burris laser did not have the improved bullet drop compensation. In low light the Nikon performed better. I've been told the Eliminator is improved. I've thought about getting one, but don't know what rifle I would put it on... unless I got rid of the Nikon. I like what I'm hearing on this scope, a lot.

My latest acquisition will go "unscoped". Currently looking for a suitable tang sight for it.
I DO need a couple of new riflles, but they do not lend themselves to scopes... my current wish list is 600 Overkill, 45-(70-120), a good 30-30, and something else, but none of them lend themselves to being scoped, for me.
