I just ran into big confusion about each difference model of Warne bases. Factory pictures and info could be misleading sometimes. A quick reply from Warne has cleared the picture. Use Browning A-Bolt base as example here:
Message:
Dear Sir,
I have Sako A7 which take same hole partten as Browning
A-Bolt. What is the difference between M918918M, S918/918M and M618/618M? Finish? Slot partten? Please help Thanks ****************************************************************
Hi Griffin,
The M918/918M and the S918/618M are both 2 piece Weaver style bases in matte black finish. The only difference between these bases is the material they are made out of. They look exactly the same but the M918/918M is machined out of cold drawn steel and the S918/918M is made out of sintered steel which is powdered steel that is pressed into a mold. The M618/618M is also matte black and is made from cold drawn steel but it is a 2 piece Picatinny style base so the slot pattern is different. I attached a picture of this base. Let me know if you have any other questions. Go with the machined over sintered. I would think they should have better tolerances over a cast/molded base.

I did went with the cold drawn base for merely $5.00 more than sintered one. Those two are exactly the same unlike the different pictures shown at swfa and other website. Did not go with Picatinny style base because the solt position. The picture for Picatinny style base is accurate.
