I purchased a tikka t-3 lite --- need rings and a scope. What I want is the scope to be as close as possible to the rifle. Have not purchased the scope(thinking short - light - 40mm - 1") yet. Something along the lines that I have on my 308(leupold mark ar) on specs not necessarily price.

The rings? --- Brand? size? The rifle came with some -- they seem a bit high and hefty. So - shorter the better - and lighter the better - price... so so.

Any suggestions(rings and scope) would be great.

What is your budget and use for the rifle?
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

This would be my choice.

I have a similar setup on my 300 WSM.

Except I have a Swaro Z6 but it all weights right at 7 lbs.

The tikka I bought is a .223 mainly for coyotes(spot and stalk) that is the reason for the light weight. I need the scope to be as close to rifle as possible for two reasons - 1: so it will fit in my Eberlestock pack W/shotgun scabbard. I hunt upland birds and coyotes in the same hunts.  2: Just the "point and shoot" feels better with scope being lower to me.

+1 That's a perfect set-up IMO.

I have Talley lightweight rings on all three Tikkas and would not use any other mount. I prefer a Trijicon Accupoint scope for anything that gets hunted in low light.  I prefer the post but many prefer the #4
