I went to the range yesterday shotting my AR15 with my old SS10X42
http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P499.aspx
There was a lot of black spots when looking thru the scope.
Never had seen this before with any scope
Any idea what causes this or can be done to fixe it?
Thanks for you help.

The black "residue" is generally flaking from internal paint.  It happens on most scope... I have a black "spot" on the inside of my Hensoldt... and I am NOT sending it anywhere.  Shooting will usually cause the material to fall to the floor of the scope.  With the SS you can take it and tap it on a hard object to dislodge the "chips", or if it doesn't really bother you too much, you can leave it alone until they disappear.  That is what I am doing with the Hesoldt HF6-24x72.

Call SWFA.  That is not the norm with scopes.  It happens but I would not be satisfied with it.  They will take care of you.

The complication on this one is he is in France...
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Take a phone book and smack the top of the scope and the particles will more than likely dislodge and fall from view.
