I have a new Browning Low Wall in 22 Hornet that I wish to scope for ground sqirrel hunting. What is the practical magnification range I should be looking at? Thanks...

The Leupold 6x36 is a good starting point.  That scope would balance well with the rifle.  Other wise you are looking at some of the 4-16 power scopes.

Would Leupold low rings work with a 40mm objective? Thanks...

The rings and bases that I have seen for these low walls are high, so you have plenty of clearance. The bases seem to be thick.

I have a low wall in .243. It wears Leupy equipment...bases, low rings and a VX3 2.5-8 X 36. It's sweet. IMO, the Low Wall needs a small, trim scope rather than a "hubble". A real dandy is a Sightron Big Sky, 3-9 X 36 with A.O.  Smile

3X9X32mm is a good general use scope that should work fine for your application.
