No.
Too many things you can do with a 338, why put a fixed any power on it?

Freedom is something you take.
Respect is something you earn. Equality is something you whine about not being given. |

I HAVE A 16 AND A 20 POWER SS, JUST TRYING TO DECIDE IF I WANT TO GO WITH IT OR GET A VARIBLE. WHAT WOULD BE THE LOWEST POWER ON THE HIGH SIDE TO GO WITH?

I have used the various 6-20/24 scopes and think they are as powerful as I would want on the low end. They also give plenty on the high end. The folks around here really like the http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-5-20x50-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P50662.aspx
My experience with the Leupold 6.5-20 has been good. The one I used was on a .300 Wby and was a 1" model. They also come in 30mm. http://swfa.com/Leupold-VX-3-VX-3L-Riflescopes-C1695.aspx?s=Name%20ASC&p=5
The SS has 30 mils adjustment and the 30mm Leupolds have 26. The VX3's offer more reticles. Any of them should be fine on a .338.
Also coming soon will be the 6-24X56 Kahles. I don't have this model yet, but I own several Kahles scopes. This scope should prove to be outstanding. The glass is true alpha class and from my experience, Kahles are the proverbial brick outhouse. http://swfa.com/Riflescopes-C1443.aspx should have them very soon.
