Team,
i own a Weatherby Mark V in .308. this is my standard hunting rifle for Australian deer species like fallow, red deer etc. i have recently purchased a vx-3L 3-10 x 50 and have been trying to mount this scope but when set it to 10x and mount it as far back as possible i am still unable to get rid of the perimeter shadow! this is incredibly annoying and has me baffled because i have had a standard vx3 mounted on it for years with no issues, and that scope has the same eye relief (3.7). the only thing i changed from the old Leupold was i put some lower mounts on it. do lower mounts effect eye relief? Any comments, thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated. Alf http://www.youtube.com/user/aboudib1234?feature=mhee |

No, mounting height does not affect eye relief.
How much closer to the eye would the scope have to be to get rid of the shadow? ILya

The ER is variable (on those Leupold's) so as you change magnification it could be a contributing factor. How about pulling the Leupy mounts and utilizing a Picatinny rail / rings? Then you could tweak the fore / aft position of the scope. Just a thought.

@ koshkin
I probably need about another half inch to have full clarity . @bugsnbows Would I still be able to keep it as low as the leupy low mounts? Any higher and it would destroy the purpose of having a vxL. What about offset mount?? |

Offset mounts would solve the problem if you only need 1/2 inch. What type of mounts are you currently using?

I'm not sure but my guess is no. Another possibility is the DNZ Game Reaper mounts. |
