This is my 300 Win mag. It is a Ruger M77 with the tang safety. In the last year I decided to upgrade the stock and scope. The new stock is a laminate from Richards Microfit. In did some more channel and action fitting, and it is now in my moms hands for some fine sanding and clearcoat (she is a pro with wood and finishing). The scope is the new Super Sniper 5-20. That is a sweet scope!! I will write some more thoughts on it later. The gun was shooting really good, but I will have to do a final sight in after the clearcoat, but it was shooting five shot touching groups at 100 yards this last week. Sure it will do it again after the clearcoat.

gave me the lowest mounting option I could find. At least with the ruger mounts. I could have bought a rail, drilld the receiver and used other rings, but I don't know if that would have been as low.

yeah I'm not much of a ruger fan personally, nothing against them.  Just not sure what ring options are available for that.  I'm not sure about drilling and tapping that receiver, as they are cast. Investment cast to be exact.  Not sure if it would be a good idea.

WOW, love that new stock. Be sure to post your impressions of the scope as I'll soon be scoping out a Ruger 1B in .300 win mag.

Not the best pic.  I will get a better one when I get to where the stock and rifle are at my parents place at the end of the month.  Can't wait.  This is with six coats of clear coat.  Huge thanks to my mom for spoiling me with the finish coats.  She is a pro in my opinion.

You better put a ding in it (so you don't react when it happens by accident).

I normally hate shiny, but that's a nice piece of work. She is a pro.

I know it looks shiny there, but it is actually I think a matte clear coat.  I would have to ask her.  Maybe she did semi gloss, but she knows that I don't want it really shiny, but I let her do it and make the final on the clear coat.  She is the pro.  The only thing i have asked her is that she not use any stains on my guns.  I just like the natural look and color of the wood.

I can't wait to put it together, and get you guys some really good pics.

She said she used a satin gloss.  She is going to email me a better pic.  So I will post it as soon as I can.

I realy like that set-up Drew! ExcellentExcellent Excellent  I'm a fan of the thumbhole stocks and I haven't seen one like that before.  The ?Rosewood? caps really set it off!  If I may...how much did teh stock cost?  I wonder if they make one that would fit a Savage long action...... Smile

I talked to my mom this morning. She said she still needs to buff it, and it will take the shine we are seeing away. I will get her to send a pic after that as well.
