I spent the night in a new basin.
Unfortunately, I only saw one elk. Fortunately, it was this one: I also saw this guy ... from a distance: I got some good video that I may post later. |

I am going to give it a whirl. You know how bulls are, they start traveling around looking for the ladies around the time the season starts. All of the pics and video were taken through my Razor HD spotter. That bull was 1400 yards away. |

That griz was about 1600 yards away. The big griz was about 2000 yards away. Oh yeah, you guys haven't seen the big one ... yet. I think I will post that one soon. Video is up here: http://www.opticstalk.com/grizzly-bears-in-mt_topic30039.html Edited by Bitterroot Bulls - August/21/2011 at 11:21 |

Nice bull! I ran into a griz this year about 1500 yards away. His head was down grubbing just like the one in your pic although it was quite a bit bigger. Made me glad I was that far away. Where I hunt the grizzlies are really starting to get over populated.

I've been seeing a lot of grizzlies lately, too. Did you see my grizzly video I posted here: http://www.opticstalk.com/grizzly-bears-in-mt_topic30039.html The video has footage of the bear in the pic, and another bear I saw just minutes later. The second grizzly in the video is a true behemoth. Over the past couple of days, I backpacked in the area where I found the bull, and as suspected, he moved on probably looking for cows somewhere. However, I did punch a tag back there in the high country. More to come... |
