my thoughts on the Weaver:

still testing the Weaver
been alternating between it and a few others

it's got very good glass

reticle could be brighter at 1x to make it pop more as it gets small due to FFP (comment only applicable in BRIGHT direct sunlight)

wouldn't make a good hunting scope as it's too bright at it's lowest power setting

I like the power range
the choice to do a BDC type reticle and the holdover points is a bit odd to me but I got it to work running ballistic calcs
I run 55g stuff for 250 yards and under and switch to 77g for 500 (longest 3 gun shot we have) yards (and 250 for matches)
able to make it work for both close and those distances

I am not convinced of the need of FFP for low power due to how small the reticles get at 1x and you will be going to max magnification for longer shots, absolutely prefer FFP for higher powers and long distance shooting

it's a good scope just don't think it will fit a lot of people's needs beyond a fun scope for an AR
I certainly don't think I would use it for LE or MIL use

+1

I did not know you could buy just the Wilson Combat lower. What does that run? I have been looking at a White Oak upper in 204 and was thinking about a JP lower to go with it.
