RC said they aren't comfortable for "healthy" sized people. Just an FYI.

Only shot a couple of 100 rds.thru one, but it depends alot on how much you like thumbhole stocks. Personally I don't care for them, preferring instead the steeper grip angle on stocks like the a5 mcmillian and the trgs and resting the trigger thumb on the right side of the stock instead of using it to grasp the gun. I can see the need for this in a sniper stock for manuvering the weapon under adverse conditions, but I don'thave that need. If your a tall guy the ai also suffer from the same problems as the DTAs-- the length of pull is too short (for me) thus causing the need to roll the trigger hand on the grip making a finger tip release of thetrigger more difficult. |

I am not especially tall, and definitely not skinny. For me AI chassis was not very comfortable. DTA, however, does fit me rather well, which is why I bought instead of the AI. Both are slightly unconventional in terms of stock design, so I would definitely recommend trying to spend some time with one before even considering a purchase.

Wow, mentioned with such love, how'd I miss this before?
I have had a few conversations with folks about the AICS setup, and have NOT said it is bad for "healthy" sized people. My specific comments have been: 1. The palm swell favors those with smaller hands. People with large paws will find a good strong-hand position to be challenging. Trigger pull suffers if good hand position isn't possible, especially on thumb-hole stocks. 2. With the 1.5 version (adjustable cheek piece, adjustable LOP), the stock ergonomics are quite comfortable. 3. Magazine lockup and rifle function are superb in all the AI versions I have used. 4. Bedding is usually unnecessary as the AICS has a bedding block that locks up well. 5. The stock is, overall, not a bad deal, compared to comparable-quality other options (McMillan, Manners, etc.) I am 6"5' and 210, I liked everything about my AICS 1.5 except for the palm swell - and couldn't find a way to make the palm swell comfortable without drastically "modding" the skins. When you consider that a McMillan A5, pillar and skim-bedded and with bottom metal, runs about $1000 and a Manners with their chassis system runs about the same (the Manners chassis, by the way, runs AI mags and is a great piece of gear), $900 for the AICS isn't a bad deal. I always recommend one at least get behind the stock before buying it, though I know that isn't always possible. I've shot virtually everything out there and have strong personal preferences; however, I appreciate that some have very different preferences. And emoticons are gay!

not wild about the feel of the pistol grip it feels like it needs a larger grip but it does fold nicely.
