Now Denmark ain't known as Bizon country, therefore it is a little special to se heards of those big animals.
We have a local farmer who have one of the few farms that are having Bisons.
People looks twice when suddenly there's 150 heads next to them in the landscabe next to the road.
I talked the farmer in to giving my wife and i a tour in his truck out between the big animals. Great to se them that close.
He told me they are still wild animale, you can't pet them like a cow. He is not getting out of the car when he is out there. They export a lot of them, both alive and as meat. A big bull costs around 5-6000us$.
The biggest of the bulls you see below was the boss in the heard. MAAAN he was big. Weighet in the neighborhood of 1,3 ton  ( 2800 pound )

Great pics. Those are some big critters. Excellent
If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

Yeah they are some large animals. The guy by me does the same as by you,for $3 he will drive you right into the middle of the heard but he actually gets off the truck & will feed them Loco

This is a small farm with only 40 cows & 2 bulls in the range of 2k lbs[little guys]

I made a roast in the Weber at New Years evening. It turned out pretty good. Took it of at 55 degrees Cel.
( app. 131 Fh.) and let it rest for a while. Yummmy.
Wow... i´ll tell my farmer friend he's a pussy, ha ha.

Great pics.  You wouldn't want to get out.  Gets messy when you make them mad.

I know a place in Colorado, for $675, not only will they drive you out in the middle of the herd, after you shoot one, they clean and skin for you...
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Ernie we need to talk.  I've got a neighbor 3 miles  from me that does the same thing Has a Butcher shop Open part time to the public.  Has a herd of about of about 45 too.  I haven't tried it yet but have heard it's the leanest of meats.  That recipe sounds wonderful!

It is lean, but Axis is actually the leanest of meats... about 0.20% fat.  Ain't no better.  But I DO love the bison...

It is not strictly speaking "hunting"... More like shooting. But it did taste very good! And kept my family of carnivores fed for almost 2 years!

Welllll, they were called "Buffalo Hunters"...
Ok, ok, ok... A buffalo (bison) stalk hunt.  Take us out, give us a direction, "where in the world is the buffalo herd..."  Have to use "old time" shooting sticks, minimum .458 caliber... whatever restrictions are required to make it "sporting"...

I am not saying its not fun. Just saying it is not exactly Queens-bury rules. I found out first hand why the American Bison dang near went extinct.

When are we going?  I have a 45/70 that needs some buffalo exercise.

Sitting in trees for deer is certainly Queensbury rules...

Don't get me wrong, I've done it and still do, but not my favorite way to "hunt"...

Come to think of it, my 300 has only killed a crow, and that doesn't really count does it?
