I am thinking of using this bullet in my rifle as a do all bullet, for both deer and elk hunting any thoughts on using 150 grn Barnes TTSX as a do all deer and elk bullet out of a 7mm WSM. Thanks

If it shoots well out of your rifle, it will definitely do the job. It looks like there are several powders capable of pushing that bullet to 3100fps. So you have several options to pursue. Did you ever find any brass?

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Some obervations that may facilatate your decision: Haveing harvested 50+ Elk and too many white tail/mule deer to count, and witnessed many more, w/ .300 savage to .340 WBY (and every cal in between).
> For Elk (especially the big Roosevelt ek)- Nothing less than 30 cal, preferably a mag. (I have killed w/300 SAV and seen a big bull droped in his tracks w/ 6mm rem mag-but, do yourself & the animal a favor!)
> 7mm is a great cal., but, I have seen several animals lost when hit by 7-08 (most regretable a caribou and blackbear in Alaska-they were not my shots) I think it (7-08) is over-rated on 200 lb +.
> The WSM cartridges tend to be paired with lighter rifles. A 1.5 to 2 lb heavier rifle will be noticeable more pleasant to shoot== better accuracy and comfort!
> The 7 WSM can be loaded down just a bit, for max accuracy and comfort (max loads rarely achieve these qualities), and still be excellant for most deer.
> No bullet is "best "at everything. The TTSX is very good at penetration (and I am BIG fan of good penetration) But it does not open up enough, in my opinion, especially at longer range when the velocity has fallen off. BE SURE TO MATCH THE BULLETS PERFORMANCE TO THE VELOCITY YOU LOAD > If you shoot a lot, you may be concerned with cost as well 1 gun vs 2 gun, TTSX vs ??...etc.

shootest I'll have to disagree with ya little on this I've seen many big fall with all different caliber rifle & hand guns its called shot place meant. thats just my 2 cents. If I'm not mistaken the 7mm wsm with the right load produces more foot pounds than most of the 30 cals I THINK!!

I wasn't upset about the black cat crossing my path this morning but mouthing "your fu@#ed" as he passed was just rude.

It will work just fine go out and kill em. I have a friend who was an Army Sniper Instructor who hunts elk with his .270 and he kills them every year and the 7mm WSM is a stronger cartridge than .270. There are even people who consistently kill them with .243 and 25-06 and nobody knows how many have died to a mere 30-30 Winchester.
