I'm looking at an IOR 6-24x50 scope. The illuminated reticle is
standard on this model. Now, do I understand it correctly that
the IOR reticle illumination lights up the thick posts
as well as the thin posts? If so, has anyone found this a
distraction, especially compared to the Leupold illuminated models,
which only illuminate the thin posts? Thanks.

if what you are looking at is an mp-8 recticle then yes it lights up all the lines and no it is not a distraction. I just sighted it in on numerous deer out to 350 yards in a cornfield in south dakota after sunset when all you could see is the outline of the deer against the yellow cut off cornstalks and I could see the cross hair dot just fine against the body of the deer. have never looked through a illum leupold but the illum mp-8 has lit lines that are very sharp and crisp in contrast. |

I owned an IOR lit reticle. Not the model in question. Mine was a FFP, lit MP-8.
Yes, the whole reticle lit up. Not a big IOR guy anymore, but they do make a decent illuminated reticle.
