Well, the UPS truck dropped off a box today from Manners stocks..
I have been very anxious to get my hands on this to replace the HS Precision on my LTR Not that there is anything "wrong" with the HS, it just never felt quite right ergonomically. The gun, a 308 with a Jewell trigger is capable of doing .5" at 300 yards and tagging steel at 1K.. it's a shooter, just wanted a stock that was perhaps a bit more ergonomic for me.. After much research I decided on a Manners MCS-T in a 4 color digital paint job. I called up Manners and spoke at length with Tom Manners and was very pleased to see what a nice guy he was to deal with.. just down to earth and easy going. Very impressed with the obvious craftsmanship and attention to detail. One very apparant thing is that the stock is slightly rear heavy, which is good because the LTR is a tad front heavy. Pulling the HS Precision stock off the gun and holding both stocks in my hand revealed they felt about the same weight but the HS was nose heavy. I will do the bedding job later this week but I did have to at least put the barreled action with scope into the stock to get a feel. Very nice, the stock comb is at the right height for me and the 50mm objective scope on the gun, the gun points naturally, the palm swell feels good and probably most importantly, the gun now feels balanced weight wise. Will post more as I bed and go shoot, for now, some pics |

Tom makes good stuff.
It is always a nice thing when you can call the owner of the company with whom you wish to do business. What was the wait time on the stock?

I love the digital paint job! Just curious, how does a Manners stock compare with a McMillan?

I'd go with a Manners over a McMillan but only based on the features I wanted in a stock. Otherwise, I think they're equals in terms of quality, customer service, etc. I just about ordered a Manners T-5A (wait time was 16-18 weeks) but found I could get a KMW Sentinel in 2-3 weeks (small production overrun) and it was exactly what I wanted. They're made by McMillan, incidentally. Otherwise, the T-5A would have been my choice.
