I'm usually an AK guy, but seeing all of you guys with your nifty AR's rubbed off on me and on a whim I bought 2 lowers from Plum Crazy in Arizona. $250 for the pair of lowers and $30 to my local FFL holder so $140 in each one.
http://www.pcfmfg.com/ I haven't beat em up much, mounted my AR57 upper to one and a scrapped together carbine length upper to the other. I've run a few hundred rounds through both so far and have no issues at all. If anyone else is using these, what issues can I expect later on? I did some reading and it's hit or miss with them either folks love em' or hate em' but I trust the posters here more than just a random sampling of the internet. I do also have a Rock River lower and after 3 months of waiting, my upper will be here 04/26 so I'll be able to more tell for myself if the extra money spent on the Rock River was worth it. What say fellas, am I the only one of us that will admit to owning a plastic AR lower? |

I think SVT has one as well. I been thinking of getting an inexpensive AR as a knock around fun toy.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

haven't been bitten by the AR bug yet, although I think the 22LR version is pretty cool!

So far so good on mine shooting 300 rounds of steel cased imported .223 through a plum crazy lower and an upper I scrapped together. Got just over $500 in it "minus the scope" and it shoots and groups well with no fails of any kind. The parts for the upper came a little at a time at gun shows. I haggled like a camel merchant but got all the pieces I needed and put it together watching youtube vids. Was really surprised it all worked and didn't blow up on me.
I put one of these on it. http://swfa.com/Hawke-15-6x44-Eclipse-30mm-Riflescope-P41112.aspx Scored it off the sample list for $150 I'll keep you guys updated if anything fails or gets wonky. |

I have built quite a few ARs and They are fairly soldier proof as far as assembly is concerned. Kinda fun to put together too!I honestly think you have to want to mess it up!

I had one, rang it out pretty good, ran well over 1K rounds through it in one session once with no hicups. I did end up selling it because I got an offer to good to refuse. i'll probably get another one soon though, i liked its lightweight design
