Wanting to know what are some fairly flat shooting rounds based off a 30-06 rim diameter.   Say out to 600.  If its hard hitting, even betterWink  Right now leaning towards a 280AI

6.5-06
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

sh*tty part about the 6.5 -06 is that you have resize the cases to make then work. where the .280 brass can just be fire formed to .280AI

i dont know of any company that makes 6.5-06 brass

Kinda steep on the price though.  Looks like you can make them from .270 brass.  That would be the way to go.

I like 280 AI.

Take a look at .338-06 or .338 Scovill.  A 185 Barnes TTSX at 3000 fps or 160 TTSX at 3250 fps should fly flat and hit hard.

Don't know what you're using it for, but my first choice for a BG rifle would be the 280 Ackley. I'm also starting to get an itch for a 25-06 Ackley.

Brass prices on the Roy suck pretty badly too.

Bolt face mods for beginners. The guy said it was a 473 BF. As stated, brass prices are high and you can get pretty darn close to the Roy with the 25-06 Ackley probably within 100-150 fps. Otherwise, I agree the 257 Roy is a stinger.

The 280 AI sounds good! Especially with all them slippery 7mm bullets, like 162 AMAX, or the 180 Bergers!
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

280AI

or just the 270 winchester, excellent flat shooting caliber with no problems.  Buy ammo anywhere or easy to load for, take your pick.

IMO the 280AI is more interesting and mine will shoot the 160 gr Accubond well at 3000 fps which makes it an all around gun from Whitetail to Elk
Guns only have 2 enemies, rust and politicians
