I bought an ar57 upper to goof around with and really like it. "I love the round and the gun shoots  straight and groups really nice. The upper comes as a flat top with no optics and a short rail for adding something, but so far I haven't found anything that works right. The issue is that the magazine mounts from the top, so I have to mount a optic high enough to clear when putting the magazine on it, and the short rail on top is not fun for eye relief.  "I'll post a pic of what I'm talking about if I can't get some advice from anyone that has an ar57 with an optic they like and works well.

Right now I'm using this.

I've got a lower with a 6 position stock, and even all the way extended I have issues getting my eye far enough away from the scope to see a good clear sight picture. Recoil is a non-factor as the 5.7 x 28 round doesn't move the gun. I've ordered a recoil pad for the stock in hopes that the extra 3/4" in length will help as I do like the millet.

If anyone else has an ar57 and has something other than an Eotech mounted on it I'd really appreciate a nudge in the right direction. I've got the Millet mounted as far forward as it can go. I would use something like the PEPR mount, but I don't think I'd get the height required to attach the magazine.

Most of you guys know me, and I'm not a mall ninja looking to shoot 1000 yards. I bought this upper because my wife is a lefty and a smaller caliber that ejects brass straight down the magazine well of a standard lower seemed like just the ticket to move her up from a .22 shooting 50 yards to a black rifle shooting 100 yards. Her vision is worse than mine so some magnification is required for her to shoot that far.

Drop me some ideas guys.

Doh, sorry forgot to mention, would like to keep the price under $350

That Burris looks pretty interesting Billy, thanks man.

I'm going to try to get a butt pad for the stock and add a little length to it. The Mrs. should still be able to reach the trigger and hopefully see out of the Millet. If that doesn't work, I'll likely get that Burris.

Thanks guys.

Update.

Added the extra thick recoil pad to the stock and the eye relief issue worked it's self out so I'll keep the Millet on it.

If anyone else does decide to buy a 5.7 x 28 upper, be aware optics are VERY limited.

I cant imagine that you could not continue to use that optic if you only had the correct mount. LaRue makes several some mount further forward than others.

With the 57, the magazine is on the top. So if the scope is to far forward, it interferes with the changing of the magazine.

It's a weird bird, but shoots really nice. Given the limited range of the shell most people are using eotechs on em. My wife has really poor vision "explains her marrying me" and needs some magnification. We plan on hitting the range Monday to see if she can live with it as is.

Appreciate all of the responses and suggestions guys. Thanks.
