I saw on Leupolds Web sight that they are coming out with several new laser range finder models. Anybody have any idea when they will be available? Anybody out there had a chance to test one yet?

Heh Guys
I asked Leupold the same question, and their reply was. That the new rangefinders would start to be shipped out as from the begining of January, prices would be between $320 and $625, depending on the model. There are six different models to choose from, they are going to have to be reallly good if they want to compete with some of the other manufactuers. Especially if i look at the prices.
Regards Chris |

I guess the higher priced ones have a thing called true balistic range that correct for a slope.
I would really like to try one out. |

We're still waiting on most of them to come in. They're still too new to have any feedback. We have received one and noticed it was very compact.

The Leupold RX-I (the new low end model that does not include the ballistic adjustment) is made in China. I can only assume that the others in the RX line are also made in China.
I liked the display on the RX-I, but it is in black and there is no light. I think the high end RX models have lights. Black readouts concern me for low light situations. Anybody have any feed back on that?
I am really interested in the Leupold RX-II and the new Leica CRF. The ballistic adjustment sounds neat and is very appealing. I just wonder how well it will work in practice?
Anybody know when the Leica CRF is coming? What do you think is the Leica worth the extra money -- approx. $400 more?
I am an archery hunter --- no rifle so most of my ranging will be under 100 yds.

Just spent the weekend with an RX-III- yes it says made in China. Works good on trees to 700 yds. Good on white houses to 1000 yd plus. Outstanding for the 2nd generation concept. (Had a nikon before). Will calculate MOA holdover will calculate inches holdover Corrects for angle in lower right hand corner. which it will also give line of sight distance. Has about 5 programs for different ballistic coefficients and drop which is then expressed as the "corrected" figure in the upper left hand screen. Has everything the IV does except compass and abut $100 less. Has corrections for target greater than 150Yds (ignores close). Has correction for 2 targets. (say both are about 200 yds, but one is a little closer, function corrects for near and far for the 2). Fit and finish - has scan and single mode. excellent, glad bought Hell yes. currently working with the lowest drop program, against 4300 fps 204 ruger loads and program A. |

I had a Rx-IV for about 2 days and sent it back for Leica 1200. I have a brother with a 900 Lecia would range anything very fast. So we tried a white house trailer out at 800 yards the Leupold would not range it. The best I could get Leupold to range was about 700yrds not much for a 1500yrd rangefinder. |

We bought 2 from (competitor) Shooting Supplies. Here are some pics of the one I had. It will be a great deer or bow rangefinder not a varmint one. From about 400 yrds in it will range off just about anything after that it is hit or miss.
