Most Bass Tournament Fishers do this technique all the time when holding fish for the camera (extend the arms as far as possible).   Bucky

If that an Eastern diamondback then hell yes its that big I've seen pic's of my grandpa hold two them over 6.5 feet. that was many moons ago & a little north of Ga in WV about 60 + years ago.
I wasn't upset about the black cat crossing my path this morning but mouthing "your fu@#ed" as he passed was just rude.

Have done that exact thing to mess with buddies when fishing.  That little trick can make a non legal fish look like a wall hanger.  Problem is we have to catch the fish first...

No doubt it is a big rattlesnake.  I don't doubt that for a second.  However, it's pretty obvious that they are playing perspective tricks to make the snake look even more monstrous than it is.  Take a look at the snake's head, for instance.  Then look at the man's head and the corner of his fist that you can barely see behind the snake.  The snake's head is as large or larger than his fist and 1/3 - 1/2 the size of his head.  Take a look at how much ground is between the snake's tail and the guy's feet.  Notice you can't see the pole he's holding it with because it is directly behind the snake.  This didn't occur by accident; the cameraman lined it up that way.  This all means that the snake is much closer to the camera than the man is.

Again, I'm not saying it isn't a very large rattlesnake; just that they are doing things with the picture composition to further exaggerate its actual size.  People do that crap all the time in pics with all kinds of dead critters.
Ted

All I know, is that it's a good snake.

I killed this one on a deer lease about 30 miles South of Abilene  (photoshopping strictly forbidden!)

We were dove hunting and my brother and I were staying in an old house and 2 other guys were staying in a tent they pitched outside the house.  They had already left to hit the fields and my brother and I got in the truck and the headlights were pointed toward the tent.  This bad boy was about 4' from the tent and headed that way.  Load of buckshot stunned him enough to put in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.  When we got back from hunting he was ready to rumble cause we could hear him rattling inside the bucket.  A pellet gun right in the middle of his head killed him.  That's his skin hanging above the window
