Y'all need to forget about those itty, bitty snake-proof boots and find yourself a full snake-proof SUIT.., AND HAT!!!

The ranch where this big rattler was killed is outside the city of Coleman which is located in (
West Texas) near Abilene. Oh, for reference, the guy stands 6'-2". Seems there's
been a boom in the snake population there.

I don't think that's legit.  I know things are bigger in Texas - but that's TOO big to be real.

Wow
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

I'm not gonna say its fake cause I've seen some 6-7ft rattler skins that were killed in the pines where my cousins logging crews work

Looks like LUNCH to me - its been a while since I've eaten rattlesnake - pretty good.
I suppose the snake population has increased since I left Texas I used to spend a lot of time decreasing the snake population. If you can find a  dried up creek bed with just a few water holes in it that is a wonderful place to take a 22 pistol.

I think there are some little tricks with perspective being played in that pic.  I recognize that trick because I've done it myself several times to mess with my friends.  Notice the man's hands holding the pole or spear the snake is hanging on are directly behind the snake.  This hides the length of the pole.  If you use a really long pole and extend the snake directly in front of you when you take the pic, it hides the perception of depth because the viewer has nothing to reference how far the snake is from the man.  Since the snake is MUCH closer to the camera than the man, it exaggerates its size.  Then, you take a low angle shot with the camera to exaggerate the height of objects closer to the camera.

Variations of these techniques work to equally good effect with fish, deer, pigs, whatever.  I'm sure it's a reasonably large rattler anyway, but probably not abnormally large as it appears in the pic.

I believe they can get that big.... I have personally seen a couple of 7 footers, and heard from a DNR officer that their was a 9' one killed on my property a few years before I bought it. ( I hope he don't have some relatives still hangin around! )
