I'm considering buying a new Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 and putting it on my aged Remmington 721 30.06 and am wondering what new rings and base(s) I will need?  Or will the rings and bases used for the current Redfield Widefield 3x9 scope will work?

the ones you have now should work just fine, unless you feel like an upgrade. i do believe that the 721's use the same rings and bases as the m700 does.

Pyro is correct.  The 721 and 700 LA use the same bases and rings.  The 722 was the short action version.  Used to have a 721 in .30-06.  Still have a 722 in .257 Bob.  Good ol guns.
